What this book is
Ayurveda sorts people into three constitutional types — vata, pitta, kapha — and builds diet, daily routine and season around which one you are.
This is the short version, done properly. Each dosha with its elements, its physical and mental signatures, what it looks like balanced and unbalanced, the specific signs that it has tipped, the foods that help and hinder, and the daily rhythm that suits it.
Then six voices read each type, including a Skeptic who separates the observations that hold up — that some people run hot and some run cold, that irregular routines destabilize some constitutions far more than others — from the claims that do not.
Most of what Ayurveda prescribes is unglamorous and works for reasons that need no metaphysics.
